Emma had her (2nd) cousin, Macy, over for a sleepover last night. Just over a year apart, these two girls are so adorable together.
We started by going down to Dan's parents (Hi, Dad!) for my birthday dinner, along with my Dad & Peggy.
I was slightly miserable because of a stomach bug but overall, a good night with family. Emma and Macy were running around like crazy after dinner, so we thought they'd both sleep pretty soundly on the way back to our place since it was so late. For the most part that was true.... That is, until Emma decided to throw up all over the place in the middle of driving through Detroit. Dan & looked at each other in a panic because we weren't about to pull over on the freeway, let alone drive off an exit and park at a gas station in Detroit (have you seen the news lately?). So we waited until we hit 9 mile, and stopped at a Kroger to get paper towel and wipes. Emma is crying because she's drenched in her own vomit, and Macy had been sleeping through it all until we stopped to clean up. We clean up best we can and continue home. Emma got a bath while I entertained Macy wanting to play with every toy in Emma's room at almost 11:00 at night. I begin feeling worse, and can't wait to get the kids settled.
Finally everyone is cleaned up and ready for bed. We put two sleeping bags in Emma's room, read a story & said goodnight. THEN we realize Macy needs a nightlight. Something Emma has never had in her room. We have no idea what to do to give a little light without it being a fire hazard. We pulled down some of the Christmas lights off the porch (seriously, they needed to be taken down anyways - just didn't plan on doing it in the middle of the night after what we had just experienced on the way home). Those were WAY too bright in the room. We then just ended up with a flashlight facing up at the ceiling. Hoping that Macy didn't wake up before morning if the battery died (which it did).
Everything turned out okay - the kids came running out of the room at 8:15 all refreshed..... me on the other hand had been up from 1-2:30 puking my guts out. I was so not ready to get up (even though I feel cured of whatever stomach bug I had from an hour 1/2 of cleaning out my system). Appetizing, I know!
We had pancakes for breakfast, played/drew on Emma's cardboard house, painted bobble heads, & played games. We were going to take the kids to church, but after the night we had, didn't feel like getting up to rush around. We ended up at the bowling alley (on Sunday's Troy Lane's has family bowl which is 2 hours of bowling, a pizza & pop, and 99 cent shoes for $30). The girls had a blast. It was Macy's first time, but she caught on quick and even got a strike using the ball ramp. She was so excited every time it was her turn.
Here are some pictures!
